Here’s how to look younger on social media
Tired of looking older than you really are? One of the best things about social media is that you are in control of your image. And while you never want to lie, there is nothing wrong with showing yourself in the best possible light!
4 tips to look younger and healthier
When it comes to looking younger and healthier, there are dozen of levers that you can pull anytime to rejuvenate your look. Some are physical while others take advantage of advances in technology. Here are some of them:
1. Improve your makeup game
It is known that the skin becomes thinner and drier with age. This is one of the reasons fine lines and wrinkles appear. One way to fix this problem is to apply a foundation before applying your makeup. It fills in the fine lines and smooths your entire complexion. (Imagine creating a blank canvas for your makeup.)
It is also important to choose the right type of makeup. Stay away from thick foundations, which can sink into lines and wrinkles and create an uneven look. Instead, use lighter products that can be applied with a sponge applicator for a smooth, well-blended appearance. (Remember – a little goes a long way!)
Eyebrows are another important area. (It’s common for eyebrows to thin out as they age.) You can revitalize their look with a simple eyebrow pencil that matches your hair color. Use it to fill in sparse areas that add to an aging look.
2. Correct your hair loss
Millions of men and women suffer from the negative effects of receding hairlines as they age. And while it’s not the end of the world, a receding hairline tends to make you look older than you really are. And contrary to popular belief, there are many ways to defend yourself.
One of the best ways to treat a receding hairline is with a treatment known as low-level laser therapy, or LLLT. Scientific studies have shown that regular use of LLLT for several months can lead to thicker and healthier hair in both men and women. In fact, it only takes about 30 minutes a day (and can be done safely and painlessly from home).
In addition to trying out LLLT, you can improve your diet, swap out hair care products (by swapping out harsh ingredients for more vitamins and nutrients), and practice smarter styling habits. (Less tight, tough hairstyles and more natural and relaxed styles.)
3. Improve the lighting
Few external factors affect your appearance as much as lighting. Poor lighting affects the quality of your photos and videos, while proper lighting creates a warm, balanced appearance that makes you look young and alive.
If you do a lot of live video, then you should definitely invest in some type of ring light or kit lighting kit. For $ 100 or less, you can completely change your appearance and remove the harsh effects of unbalanced light and intense shadows.
4. Pick the right angles
Angles play a role in images. The same image can look dramatically different depending on the camera angle and your position in relation to the camera.
“Understanding how your camera angle or the way you look at your shots can improve not only your portraits, but also your photography in general,” mentions the Digital Photography School. “How you position yourself in relation to your subjects can have a dramatic effect on the resulting images.”
The ideal way to improve your social media footage is to play around with different angles. Don’t be afraid to take a number of different shots from different angles. Over time, you will get a feel for what works and what doesn’t. (And as a side note, what works for you doesn’t always work for others, and vice versa.)
Add it all up
It’s time to stop worrying about how you look and showcase your best image. By addressing the underlying problems and capitalizing on advances in technology, you will always be able to present yourself to the best of your ability and take advantage of every opportunity – personal, professional, or otherwise.
