How should we consider our online marketing efforts - free seo tips

How to think about online marketing

Basically, online marketing is about being present on as many channels as possible, and as often as possible. It creates credibility, both with the target audience, but also in the algorithms of Facebook, Google, Instagram and so on. And we want credibility in their algorithms, because then we get pushed up on the search engines, our posts appear more often, and we get lower click prices on Instagram, Facebook and Google Ads. The challenge is then that things take time. There is no upper limit to how many posts and news you can make and share, but there is an upper limit to how much time you have available. So it's a focused effort, so you get the most out of the budget that you now have at your disposal.

What marketing channels can we use

There are many social media, and many ways to use them, compared to online marketing. The most important channels in a non-priority order are per. April 2019:
• Facebook
• Instagram
• Google SEO
• Google Ads
• Youtube
• LinkedIn
• Twitter
• Bing
• Yahoo
• Snapchat
• Local Web sources such as Yelp, Tripadvisor, etc.

Which media to use, and in what way, of course depends on the target group, the product and the country in question to be marketed in. Having said that, there is no doubt that it is currently best to invest time and money in Facebook, Google and Youtube. This is where the largest audience is, and this is where there is the largest return on investment, ie the largest ROI.

What to think about when starting up a business

Initially, one must have a website, it must be mobile optimized, load quickly, have SSL certificate, and the design must appeal to the target audience. The first thing to do next is to "own" your name on all possible media. This means that you must create profiles on all the above-mentioned media, as well as all those that are not mentioned, such as Krak, The Yellow Pages, etc. You must write your name in the same way on all media, as well as write a unique description of your company and services, and link back to its website. It is very important to include correct and identical address, name, phone number and opening hours everywhere. Google uses this information to assess the credibility of your business. The more places on the web your information goes back, the more "real" or "important" your business is in Google's eyes. It offers two benefits. There is partly a link value in being present in the above way, and there is partly a very large value for the local searches, ie Google Maps / Google My Business. More about that in a section below.
Google search engine optimization, or SEO - why it works on your target audience
Let’s start with why SEO works. We all use Google for everything today. New shoes, a new car and so on. And we all know that we rarely move on to page two. And many people do not bother to click on the ads, so if you can rank high on page 1 on Google, then you get automatic traffic. So why does it work well? It does so because those who then click into your website have a need they want met. Otherwise, they would not have searched for what you offer. And if you can otherwise cover the need with your services or your product, well then there is a good chance that you can get a new customer. Just by being high on Google.

SEO - how it works

In short, the more relevant your website is rated by Google to be, the higher up it will appear. You make the website relevant by focusing on two main areas:

• The content of the website itself, including the structure and design
• The linking to other websites, ie inbound links

In its day, that is, 1997, when the creators of Google presented their idea, they focused solely on links between web pages. The more links in to a given website, the higher the value, or Pagerank. Once you have created a website, it starts with a Pagerank of 0, and it can have a maximum Pagerank of 100. Google's own website reportedly has a Pagerank of 99. You can quickly boost your seo Pagerank by focusing on create profiles on all of the above media. Another idea is that you can create blog profiles on major sites such as Wordpress.com, Tumblr and so on. Just by creating a profile for the company and making a single post on such pages, and remembering to link back to your website, you are guaranteed to have already done more than most of your competitors. In addition, you make your website relevant to Google by letting your keyword, that is, what you sell and will be found on, go again everywhere. In the headline, the page title, the body text, and so on.

SEO - how fast does it work

If you do everything correctly, not too much, not too little, not too fast, not too slow, then you can easily see movement in your placements during the first few weeks. If you have a brand new domain and a brand new website, it takes a bit longer, especially considering that you then start with Pagerank 0. Either way, a realistic expectation for a reasonable return on SEO work is that after 3-6 months you start to be able to see serious results.

I do everything right, why does nothing happen

Over the years, Google has developed a comprehensive manual on how to make your website relevant. This manual is called the Google Webmaster Guidelines. You may then ask yourself the question: If I do everything that is in Google's guidelines, will my website come up and be number 1, and will it do so tomorrow? The answer is no, unfortunately there is no guarantee for that, and there are several good explanations for that. On the one hand, Google is a company that obviously has to make money, and they do that on Google Ads, not on you doing SEO. On the one hand, all your competitors also focus on being number 1 on Google, so they also do a lot to be number 1. But there is also a less visible explanation and reason why it can be slow to get high up, even if you do correctly. In an effort to combat websites that over-optimize the website in an attempt to cheat Google, Google has developed mathematical models and tools to confuse us. How to cheat Google? You can do this, for example, by writing a lot of text with the same color as the background color, by letting every other word in the text be your keyword, and so on. If you over-optimize, you may be exposed to Google Rank Transition. This means that you will find that the website for a period of up to 70 days (the period is unknown and estimated), has fluctuating rankings, and no matter what you do, there is not really any visible consequence of it. Only when you are out of this penalty period will Google again apply the normal algorithm to your website. To make matters worse, one can unfortunately not see this in some places. It is only if you are very experienced in SEO that you can have a request that something is going on. With the above in mind, there are two things that are important to remember:
1. Follow Google's guidelines as much as possible
2. Give it time. Even if you do everything right, we sometimes forget that we do not control Google

Google uses artificial intelligence

One of the newer tools Google uses to place your website is an artificial intelligence tool called Rank Brain. What Rank Brain supposedly does is that they measure the traffic on your website in real time. They measure how long visitors are on your website, what they click on, how much traffic you get, and so on. They use all this to assess how popular your website is. The more popular, the more plus points you get. This is very interesting because you can now really get points for designing your website well, because the more attractive the design is, the better it is targeted at your target audience, the more they click around and it measures Rank Brain and rates you positively hereafter.

Local SEO - the new variety

Imagine you are going on holiday and want to rent a car in Barcelona. It is conceivable that you go on Google and search for "car rental Barcelona". You'll then see a series of ads, some search results, and probably also a Google Maps map showing the most relevant businesses. This is important because your location on Google Maps is a science in itself. If you rank high on Google Maps, you're very likely to get visitors and they'll call you. If you have a local Google profile with a phone number, this number will be displayed and if people click on it they will call you and Google will notice and reward you for it. There is currently a tendency for Google to push the Google Maps map all the way to the top, especially on mobile phone searches. And since the majority of searches today take place on the mobile phone, you need to take this into account. You do this by remembering to have clear contact info on your website, and all online profiles. And you do this especially by creating, completing and maintaining your Google My Business profile, or your GMB profile. The GMB profile is a free tool provided by Google where you can upload photos, fill in opening hours, write news about your business and so on. And the more you fill in the better. You can also get reviews on your Google profile, and if you have a lot of reviews and you have even taken the time to answer them, then you get a lot of plus points in Google's algorithm. Remember one thing: Google ALWAYS rewards you for using their own tools.
